Three committees — the Credentials Committee, the Tellers Committee and the Committee on Committees — were appointed during the state convention’s opening session Nov. 18.
State Convention President Joe Godfrey announced the appointments 30 days prior to the annual meeting in accordance with bylaw requirements, but the appointments needed to be ratified by the messengers during the meeting.
The convention Credentials Committee helps with problems regarding registration and seating of messengers.
Serving as chairman of the committee was Larry C. Patterson of First Baptist, Silverhill. Working with him were A. Bryan Blass III of First Baptist, Gadsden; R. David Byrd of Northside, Jasper; *Cathy Cosper of Canaan, Bessemer; *Rhonda Grandstaff of Southside, Dothan; Mike L. Johnson of First Baptist Albertville; and Steve W. Loggins of Beechwood, Mount Olive.
Tellers Committee members helped convention officers tabulate convention votes. *Ronnie B. Holladay of Benton Baptist, Benton, served as chairman. Other members were *Carol Brown of Taylor Road, Montgomery; Padgett C. Cope of Heflin Baptist, Heflin; Paul S. Hicks of Northside, Cullman; R. Allan Lawhorn of Stapleton Baptist, Stapleton; *Charles Olive of Ridgecrest, Dothan; and *Judy A. Roden of Gilliam Springs, Arab.
The following were also elected to serve on the Committee on Committees with terms expiring in 2006: Russell Dean of Excel Baptist, Excel; *Myra Taunton of First Baptist, Birmingham; and Danny Flora of Slackland, Leesburg. (TAB)
