Goodman Baptist celebrates centennial

More than 200 members, former members and former pastors celebrated the 100th anniversary of Goodman Baptist Church, Enterprise, on July 19.

“It was an exciting day,” said Kaye Clark, music director at Goodman Baptist who led the choir in its special music for the morning service. The 10 a.m. service included a time of sharing by members and former members and a message by Pastor Bruce Williams.

Commemorative certificates were presented by John Granger, director of missions for Coffee Baptist Association and a former pastor of Goodman, and Ellen Dewberry, Alabama Baptist Historical Commission representative. Hubert McWaters and Tim Britham, who were both ordained at Goodman, also participated in the service.

A special feature of the celebration was the children’s bulletin and storybook that each child received at the beginning of the service, said Clark, who also serves as the public relations coordinator for Coffee Association.
