GuideStone keeps medical plan rates steady

GuideStone keeps medical plan rates steady

For the third year in a row, rates will not increase in personal medical plans of GuideStone Financial Resources.

The entity provides insurance, retirement and investment resources to churches and employees of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The recommendation to keep rates steady in 2007 was approved in GuideStone’s July 31–Aug. 1 meeting in Denver.

Aside from regular age increases, 100 percent of personal medical plan participants will receive no rate increase and more than 40 percent will receive a rate decrease, said GuideStone President O.S. Hawkins.

He credited this to continued improvements in GuideStone’s medical plans.

“During the past several years, we have provided a greater variety of choices in our medical plans with varying deductibles and rates,” Hawkins said.

“We have also realized greater discounts by using a single network,” he continued.

“We are beginning to see positive results from our wellness emphasis and more and more churches are taking responsibility in meeting their pastor’s benefits needs.”

Group medical plans used by Baptist state conventions and churches will also benefit from rates that either drop or remain unchanged.  (GuideStone)
