Happy in Selma

Happy in Selma

I live in Selma and I am a volunteer for the Freedom Foundation. My mother and sister were recently quoted in several of the articles you published about the Freedom Foundation and The House of God. I was very surprised and disappointed that I was never contacted to answer questions or give an interview since you printed my mother’s and sister’s opinions and feelings about our family affairs and these organizations which I am affiliated with.

I wrote my mom after reading the articles. My letter to her explains how she has misquoted me and has relayed untrue information to the reporters.

One part of the letter reads: “Mom, I am happy living where I do and worshiping where I do. I am not going to ‘come back home’ and everything will go back to the way it was. You need to understand that I am not in a cult, not told what to do, not held against my will. You have misinformation and lies that you’ve used to build your case, and it is faulty and crazy.”

I am a public schoolteacher in Selma, my husband is a police officer and we have children.
