Helping Those With AIDS

The other day, a member of our choir at church who is also our liaison for the AIDS walk told us the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) would be participating in the AIDS walk this year. And, I have to say, we questioned this information, but he assured us that it was true.

I just had to write and express my gratitude to God and to the SBC. So many times the question has been asked, “What would Jesus do?” I realize that we all have different ideas about what Jesus would do under certain circumstances. But one thing is certain, Jesus had more compassion than we can really even comprehend. And for such a devastating disease as AIDS, the modern leprosy, I believe that Jesus would have done everything in His power to help those people with this disease that asked. The AIDS walk is doing just that, asking God and His people to help fight this disease.

God works best through His people that listen to that still small voice and obey Him. And what does God ask of us? That we have love for God and compassion for God’s people. I am so very grateful that the SBC is beginning to realize that we are all God’s people.
