Four Alabamians were among 92 appointed for overseas service by the International Mission Board during a service in Sunnyvale, Texas, April 9.

Garry and Denise Johnson, of Huntsville, were tapped to serve as Baptist representatives in Germany. Two other Alabamians were appointed to serve in a high-security region.

Garry Johnson, who earned a bachelor of business administration in accounting from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, will take on the role of accounting team member for the Western Europe region. He previously served as billing program director for BellSouth Telecommunications in Birmingham for more than 25 years.

He has also served as business manager for Westwood Baptist Church, Alabaster, and interim church administrator for Southside Baptist Church, Huntsville.

The Johnsons served a two-year Masters assignment in East Asia from 2004 until 2006. In Germany, Denise Johnson will serve in a supporting role. (TAB)
