Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Vestavia Hills, will host the Jan. 22 International Mission Board (IMB) missionary appointment service.
All missionaries who are being appointed to serve with IMB will be present to give testimonies about their callings, and the countries where they will serve will be announced.
“We are so trilled the service will be here, “said Danny Wood, pastor of Shades Mountain. “We’ve really stepped up both our interest and our participation in missions.”
Jerry Rankin, president of IMB, will bring the message at the service.
This is not a time of for putting missionary activity on hold, Rankin said.
“It is a time for seizing the opportunity to proclaim our living Savior in every effort to extend the kingdom of God into the strongholds of darkness.”
Wood encourages all pastors, staff and lay people to attend the service.
“It will be a great service for people who have thought they are called to missions but aren’t sure,” Wood said. “This could be the nudge they need.”
