Inner City Evangelism project planned for Montgomery

First Baptist, Montgomery, is co-sponsoring an Inner City Evangelism (ICE) crusade with the state evangelism office, set for April 28- May 2 in that city.

Max Croft, associate in evangelism with the State Board of Missions, said the North American Mission Board is excited about the project, because it is the first city where they have had a “strong downtown church” serving as coordinator.

Croft said all training meetings and meals will be held at First Baptist. Harold Hancock, minister of missions, is charged with overall coordination, with assistance from Jane Ferguson, community ministry director.

Croft said Ferguson is “very familiar with the nine project areas where the witnessing teams will be working.

He said several predominately black churches in the low-income areas are participating and will receive the majority of follow-up prospects resulting from the crusade. Block parties and prayer walks are planned in the areas prior to ICE witnessing, according to Croft.

He said training will be offered in direct witnessing and in a program for dealing with addiction, Saving Addicts for Eternity.

“I believe that we will record as many as 1,000 professions of faith,” Croft said.

He said the Montgomery effort will determine the possibility of crusades in other Alabama cities.
