Intercollegiate Horse Show

The Judson College equine science department sponsored another successful Intercollegiate Horse Show Association show Nov. 8. Competitors included Berry College, Georgia State College, Georgia Tech and North Georgia College. The Judson team prevailed in the first show of the day, tying for the high-point team award with North Georgia.

Joy Coppock of Lowndesboro placed second in Open Reining and first in Open Western Horsemanship. And Christina Wood of Fairhope placed first in Advanced Western Horsemanship.

In the Intermediate Western Horsemanship category, Alyssa Hicks of Corpus Christi, Texas, placed third; Heather Hodge of Thomasville placed fourth; and Jessica Elmore of Opp placed reserve.

In the Beginner Walk/Trot Horsemanship class, Kristin Forrester of Birmingham placed third; Samantha Marcella of Cullman placed fourth; and Candyce Gibbs of Cullman placed fifth.

In the second show of the day the home team won the Reserve High-Point Team Award. Coppock won the high-point rider award by placing first in Open Reining and second in Open Western Horsemanship.

Wood placed second in Advanced Western Horsemanship.

In the Intermediate Western Horsemanship class, Marcella placed first, Hicks placed second, Hodge placed fifth and Elmore placed reserve.

In the Beginner Walk/Trot Horsemanship class, Gibbs placed third and Forrester placed fourth.

These shows gave the Judson team an overall ranking of third in the region and made Coppock the regional third overall in standings for high-point rider.
