Strong storms moved through Alabama on Jan. 11, causing several deaths and toppling trees and structures, including the steeple of First Baptist Church, Saks, Anniston, in Calhoun Baptist Association. In Pickens County, where three people were killed when a tornado touched down near Carrollton, a first responders’ appreciation dinner planned by Pickens Association WMU carried on, offering to-go plates to first responders serving in storm-affected areas.
