Edwin Jenkins will be available for preaching and teaching invitations beginning in July. He recently stepped down from his role as teaching pastor/senior adult minister at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Huntsville, where he had served since February 2020.
A native of Birmingham, he holds a bachelor of arts degree from Samford University and master of divinity and doctor of ministry from Southwestern Seminary. He was licensed to preach in 1970 at First Baptist Church Trussville and ordained in 1972 at Lone Willow Baptist Church, Cleburne, Texas.
Jenkins spent several years (2015–2019) in interim ministry, first serving as director of missions for Morgan Baptist Association, followed by interim/transitional pastor positions at Mount Zion; Wall Highway Baptist Church, Madison; and Sherwood Baptist Church, Huntsville. He served as director of the office of leadership/church growth for the State Board of Missions from 1996 to 2006.
He previously served as pastor of FBC Athens (2006–2015); director in the office of leadership/church growth for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (1996–2006); pastor of Hilldale Baptist Church, Birmingham (1984–1996), FBC Katy, Texas (1979–1984), Calvary Baptist Church, Rosenberg, Texas (1975–1979), FBC Milford, Texas (1973–1975), and Lone Willow Baptist Church, Cleburne, Texas (1972–1973); associate pastor and minister of music of Lone Willow Baptist (1971–1972); and minister of youth and youth music of FBC Trussville (1969–1970).
Jenkins has previously been a moderator for an association in Texas and Alabama as well as served in various capacities with the SBOM and the Southern Baptist Convention. He has also served on the board of trustees of Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center.
