Judson Equestrians Win Big at Home

Judson College hosted Alabama’s first and only set of Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Western shows this year Nov. 14.

In both shows, Judson equestrians won the award for Reserve High Point Team.  

In the first show, Judson’s only open rider, Joy Coppock Hays, of Wetumpka, placed first in Open Reining and second in Open Western Horsemanship, which cinched her the award for reserve high point rider.  

Jordyn Blackwell, of Grand Bay, placed third in Advanced Western Horsemanship, and Andrea Luckie, of Alexander City, placed second in Novice Western Horsemanship.

In Intermediate Western Horsemanship, Corey Finlay, of Oxford, placed third and Heather Hodge, of Thomasville, placed sixth, and in the Beginner Walk/Trot Horsemanship class, Sarah Dunn, of Frisco City, placed third.

In the second show, Hays won the award for high point rider by placing first in Open Reining and fourth in Open Western Horsemanship and Blackwell again placed third in Advanced Western Horsemanship. Luckie placed fourth in Novice Western Horsemanship, and Finlay placed sixth in Intermediate Western Horsemanship. Dunn placed second in Beginner Walk/Trot Horsemanship, which qualified her for the regional show in February.

Judson and Hays ranked second overall in the region.

Competitors included Berry College, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech and North Georgia College & State University.
