Kevin Criswell joins Baptist staff as graphic designer

Kevin Criswell has joined The Alabama Baptist staff as a graphic designer. His first day on the job was June 4.

A native of the East Lake area of Birmingham, Criswell graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham June 10, with a bachelor of arts degree in art studio with a concentration in graphic design and a minor in art history. Criswell currently lives in Springville.

“I hope to contribute and help The Alabama Baptist communicate important news and interests to statewide churches,” said Criswell. “The reason I wanted to work here was to get back into graphic design work and I jumped at the chance of working in an organization that’s not just a business but a ministry.”

He worked as a graphic designer in the advertising department in The Birmingham News from 1994 to 1999.

Following his years at the News, Criswell joined the staff at Southern Living in Birmingham. His four-month internship included promotional and advertising design.

Criswell then worked at Digital Prepress and Printing Services in Birmingham from 1999 to 2000. He worked on prepress and production for the company.

Before joining the Alabama Baptist, Criswell worked at Nashville Electrographics Corporation in Birmingham 2000-2001, where he also worked on prepress and production.

News editor Jennifer Rash said, “We are excited Kevin has come on board with us. He will be able to use his design expertise and professional experience in a religious vocation that allows him to serve the Lord while working in his field.”

A member of The Church of Brook Hills in Birmingham, Criswell will marry Erika Layton Oct. 20.

Criswell is the son of Donald and Evelyn Criswell. He has one brother and one sister. (TAB)
