Kyle Matthews to perform at M-POWER concert

Christian recording artist and songwriter Kyle Matthews will be featured in a Jan. 28 benefit concert for Birmingham’s M-POWER Ministries at Lakeside Baptist Church, Birmingham.

According to its website, www.mpowerministries.org, M-POWER “provides opportunities for people to break the cycle of poverty through education and health services.”

The concert is sponsored by the WMU (Woman’s Missionary Union) Foundation.

A special offering taken at the concert will benefit the M-POWER Education Center, a certified Christian Women’s Job Corps (CWJC) and Christian Men’s Job Corps (CMJC) site.

CWJC and CMJC are WMU ministries.

Joining Matthews onstage will be youth choirs representing three Birmingham-area churches: Lakeside Baptist, Shades Crest Baptist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church.

The concert will follow a Youth Ministry Day, where youth choir members and their chaperones will assist with service projects at M-POWER. During the afternoon, there will be a prayer walk around the ministry’s building.

“I hope that this concert is another opportunity for people who don’t know about M-POWER and the work we do with people in the city … to become familiar with [it],” said Bethany Rushing, M-POWER’s marketing director.
