Linden Baptist celebrates paying off loan

For Linden Baptist Church in Bethel Baptist Association the paying off of a construction loan in less than 14 years was not only a journey, but also something to celebrate.

This past summer the church did just that during a special morning service called Legacy of Faith, along with the introduction of the Legacy of Faith Fund, put in place for future building needs. Several men who volunteered during the building phase were recognized during the service and a lunch followed.

The groundbreaking of the fellowship hall and office complex was held March 9, 2003, and construction began a few weeks later. The church dedicated the building Feb. 13, 2005, and on Oct. 29, 2014, it held what they called Finish the Race Day to encourage members to remain faithful and pay off the rest of the debt — which they did Dec. 18, 2014. Billy Harris, who also served as pastor in 2003 when the church began a campaign to pay off the loan, is interim pastor.
