Speaking out of Philippians 4:6-9, Fred Luter Jr. recently challenged University of Mobile students during their chapel service to pray right, think right and live right.
“One of the realities of living in a fallen society is that we have to deal with the impact and struggles of a fallen world,” said Luter, senior pastor of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, during the Sept. 3 chapel. “No one is exempt or gets a pass. Struggles will come your way. Because of the struggles of living in a fallen world, these struggles can lead to anxiety or apprehension and no peace in your life. As sons and daughters of God, how do we achieve the peace of God in our lives?”

1. The first point Luter, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention, presented to students is to pray right.
‘Tell God all about it’
“Philippians 4:6 reminds us to be anxious for nothing,” he noted. “God has given us the spiritual discipline of prayer to help us. There is no trial or situation that you can’t take to the Lord in prayer. The battle is the Lord’s. No matter what you are facing, you can tell God all about it. If you want to experience the peace of God, take everything to God in prayer.”
2. The second point Luter made is that we must think right.
‘Perfect peace’
“God desires for us as His sons and daughters to have His peace,” Luter said. “Isaiah 26:3 says God will keep you in perfect peace.”
3. The third point that Luter shared with students is they must live right.
“If you commit these things to Him, practice them and accomplish them, the God of peace will be with you,” Luter said. “He promises that He will never leave you or forsake you.
“In spite of this sinful world that we live in, the world can’t give or take away the peace that comes from God. That same peace of God is available to every child of God.”
Luter concluded the message by praying for the students and school leaders to have peace in God.
