Interim Music Minister R. Bruce Lowery of First Baptist Church, Fultondale, in Birmingham Baptist Association died Dec. 5. He was 52.
Lowery previously served as interim music minister for Smoke Rise First Baptist Church, Warrior, in North Jefferson Baptist Association; First Baptist Church, Jasper, in Walker Baptist Association; and Liberty Park Baptist Church, Vestavia Hills, in Birmingham Association.
Lowery also sang in the choir of Gardendale’s First Baptist Church in North Jefferson Association for many years. In addition to his music ministry, Lowery traveled extensively on missions trips to Central America, mainly working with the Meskito Indians near the Rio Coco in Nicaragua.
Lowery was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Lowery.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; one daughter; one grandson; and his father, mother and brother. (TAB)
