What do you say about the latest release from one of the giants of Christian music?
“The Hurt & The Healer,” Mercy Me’s seventh album, hit Billboard’s Top 200 Chart at No. 7 and topped the Christian Soundscan Chart. The first week after its release it reached the No. 1 spot on iTunes’ Christian Album Chart and the No. 10 spot of their overall Album Chart. So far, every record they’ve made has been certified Gold or Platinum, and this one will be no different.
Their music has always been a rousing, infectious mixture of pop and rock, with thoughtful and inspiring lyrics, world-class musicianship and production, and an eyes-wide-open view of our relationship with Christ and how we interact with Him and those around us. Perhaps, as much as anything, it may be their honest take on living the Christian walk that endears them so to all of us.
Or, maybe it’s their music. Yeah, it’s the music.
