Michelle Tumes continues to emerge as a talented singer/songwriter with the release of her new album, center of my universe. Tumes offers 10 songs that emerge from her own personal reflections as she ponders the world in which we live.
The new album offers Tumes’ familiar blend of music that is both reflective and reserved. Songs like “Lovely” and “Immortal” are characterized not only by the ethereal sounds of the music, but also by Tumes’ reflective perception of a deep relationship with Christ. Tumes also expands her musical identity on the album. The song “Do Ya” is an upbeat tune in which Tumes makes light of her own physical imperfections in order to celebrate the fact God made each of us in such a beautiful way.
“I guess the theme of this record is taking what we have in this world and looking at things through the eyes of God and seeing how wonderful they are,” Tumes explains. “There are bad things that happen in the world, but there is so much hope. I think we need to express that to each other and just live a life full of prayer and worship.”
