Ministry Tips — Preaching to the Bones

Ministry Tips — Preaching to the Bones

First Baptist Church, Hamilton

Ezekiel was called to preach to the bones. God still calls men to places where the bones are dead and dry. Ezekiel was not in the valley of bones by his own choice. Likewise make sure you are called to the graveyard.

When preaching to the bones trust what God sees over what you see. All Ezekiel could see was death and defeat. However, we serve a God who makes dry bones live.

One assignment

Remember you have only one assignment. Say to the bones, “Hear the word of the Lord!”

Remember everything depends on God. The message comes from God. The mission is God’s. When the miracle of life comes to the bones, it will be the result of God’s activity not the result of your preaching.

Encourage the bones to look to God, listen to God and long for God’s activity.

Be obedient to God. Ezekiel said, “So I prophesied as I was commanded.” Say what God tells you to say.

Don’t be frightened by a little noise. The noise is a sign God is stirring.

Pray for the Spirit

Pray for the breath of heaven. Without the Spirit, the bones will not live.
