Love Will Rise
Surrogate Records
There is a poppy, road-trippish loftiness, both musically and lyrically, to “Love Will Rise,” Mitch McVicker’s first release in 5 years.
The 13 songs are quiet but intensely emotional, slightly somber yet driving. Lots of breezy piano, lots of good beats and McVicker, a dead ringer for Mark Wahlberg, takes it falsetto at just the right spots. The songs are good and interesting, all of them.
This is the sort of record you would expect from an award-winning songwriter.
