I was initially intrigued by the organization of this book — there is a devotion drawn from each book of the New Testament. But it was the content of those devotions that held my attention.
The one-page devotions are short, simple, but convicting. Each one begins with a verse (the author urges the reader to read the entire chapter), some background, then an application where the author turns the spotlight on the heart and how the words relate to our lives today. The author displays a pastor’s heart in his words to the reader — assisting those who read the devotions to understand and apply the helpful words.
