Mount Sharon BC celebrates 150 years

With the theme “Celebrating 150 years of God’s faithfulness,” Mount Sharon Baptist Church, Childersburg, marked its 150th anniversary Sept. 27. 

Various church members and church groups sang during the 10:30 a.m. service, and Coosa River Baptist Association Director of Missions Randy Hagan encouraged the congregation. Pastor Mike Johnson brought the message and Charles “Chuck” Kornegay, who was ordained at Mount Sharon Baptist, was honored for serving 50 years in ministry.

Albums of historic pictures were displayed and the church’s Women on Mission prepared goody bags with anniversary items for participants.

The noon meal concluded the celebration that was “just so exciting,” according to anniversary committee member Anne Churchwell, who also serves as the Woman’s Missionary Union director for Coosa River Association.
