Mount Zion Baptist Church, Westover, celebrated its 75th anniversary May 1.
The celebration was postponed from 2021 due to COVID-19. Congregational singing was led by Rick Kenney. Special music was provided by the Vaughn Family of Berry, Alabama; former members Edwina Chappell, Niva Dorough and the Bevins family; and members Rainey Killingsworth (first time to sing in church) and the Vanoy family.
The church’s oldest living member, Erskine Morgan, was recognized. His great-grandson made a salvation decision during the service.
Memorabilia and a photo album set up in the fellowship hall displayed photos and articles.
“The most special thing that happened was Eli [Killingsworth] getting saved,” said Regina Vanoy.
Many stayed to enjoy a fellowship meal after the service.
