Once again, I would like to express my appreciation to The Alabama Baptist, especially Editor Bob Terry, for an outstanding job of reporting the news and writing editorials. I refer specifically to the articles and editorial concerning the North American Mission Board in the Aug. 20 issue. We are blessed to have a wise, intelligent, committed servant of the Lord guiding our paper and keeping us informed. I also appreciate the letter from Jerry N. Watts, of Hueytown, concerning Calvinism. True, it is a complex matter, but we have already had this debate in the 1830s, and if anybody has any questions today, let him compare the status of primitive Baptist churches to “missionary” Baptist churches. And let him go and read the words of Jesus recorded in the Gospel According to Matthew 28:18–20.
