The University of Mobile (UMobile) has added three faculty members as the 2010–11 academic year begins.
Debra Chastang has been named associate professor of nursing in the school of nursing after previously having served as an adjunct instructor. She received her associate degree, bachelor of science and master of science in nursing from UMobile.
Kenn Hughes has joined the faculty of the Center for Performing Arts as assistant professor of music, director of instrumental studies and director of RamCorps. Hughes received his bachelor of music from the University of Oklahoma in Norman and his master of music education from Wichita State University in Kansas.
Larissa Parsley is assistant professor of biology in the college of arts and sciences. Parsley earned her bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss., and recently completed a doctorate in biological sciences at Auburn University.
4UMobile Jazz Band Concert Features Guest Soloists: The Center for Performing Arts will present the University of Mobile (UMobile) Jazz Band in concert in Ram Hall on Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature guest soloists Jaimee Paul and Leif Shires in a relaxed coffeehouse atmosphere.
Paul and her husband, Shires, are Nashville-based musicians. Paul’s most recent album, “At Last,” serves as a vocal tribute to some of her most powerful musical influences, including Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James. Shires is a popular session trumpeter. For more information, call 251-442-2321.
