KAMPALA, Uganda — A pastor, his wife and his two young children burned to death when their home was torched after three Muslims put faith in Christ Jesus.
Weere Mukisa, 30; his wife, Annet Namugaya, 25; and their two daughters, ages 7 and 4, were killed Oct. 13 in Kibale village in Namutumba district, Mukisa’s brother told Morning Star News. The assailants are thought to be Islamists from a neighboring village. The Islamists were reportedly upset because three Muslims converted to Christianity in September through Mukisa’s evangelism.

In an unrelated case, Hidaaya Nabafa, 27, was hospitalized for burns suffered when her Muslim husband beat her Oct. 9 and poured battery acid on her.
Morning Star states Nabafa, who lives in Nankoma village in Bugiri district, put faith in Christ in August.
The mother of three likely will need reconstructive surgery, Morning Star reported.
Approximately 12% of Uganda’s population is Muslim. Uganda’s constitution and laws allow for freedom of religion, including converting from one faith to another. However, Christian churches increasingly have received threats of violence, and some Christian converts have been attacked, killed or excommunicated by Muslim family members, the World Atlas reported.
