Praying for rain

Praying for rain

Alabama has experienced an extraordinary season of drought. Water shortages are growing critical in some areas, forcing Alabama into “water wars” with neighboring states.

“Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God,” by Henry Blackaby and Claude King, teaches us to make connections between what we pray and what happens next. When Gov. Riley asked Alabamians to pray for rain for one week — it rained every day. The Bible is filled with illustrations of how the Lord uses drought to reveal Himself to His people.

Maybe it is time for Alabama churches to enter an extraordinary season of prayer. If we trust God and pray and do not doubt, then He will open  the windows of heaven and pour out on us the blessing of rain to fill our lakes and reservoirs and the blessing of His powerful presence to fill our churches and the hearts and lives of His people.
