Bill 9 would ban “collective religious practices” in parks and streets without municipal approval.

The bill also would begin wiping out public funding for religious private schools, according to the report. The government, the BBC reported, said the measures strengthen secularism. Meanwhile, civil liberties and various faith groups are calling the bill discriminatory and a violation of religious freedom.
