RamTonz, RamBunctious Win Competitions

Two University of Mobile (UM) quartets, RamTonz and RamBunctious, have won regional competitions and will represent the university in international contests this summer and fall.

RamTonz, a traditional barbershop quartet, was named the 2009 Dixie Collegiate Quartet Champions. They will compete in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s international competition in Anaheim, Calif., June 28–July 5.

Another UM quartet, Ramtastic 4, received fourth place in the Dixie District competition.

RamTonz members are Andrew Lowe, lead; Luke Veazey, tenor; James Berrian, baritone; and Scotty Lawrence, bass.

RamBunctious, a Young Women in Harmony group, was named the 2009 Sweet Adelines International, Heart of Dixie Region 23, Rising Stars of the South. The next competition will be at the Sweet Adelines International Convention in Nashville Oct. 20–24.

RamBunctious members are Maggie Woodlief, lead; Nikki Ellis, bass; Tiffani Tallent, tenor; and Brittany Norris, baritone.

The groups are directed by Al Miller, associate dean of the Center for Performing Arts, and vocal coach Bron Dixon, of Mobile.
