I am writing with deep concern on how many Christians in Alabama are registered voters and exercise that right at election time. I advocate in the Alabama State Legislature in Montgomery for children. I have seen how the political world works.

I have seen very strong Christian legislators fight for a law to only have it voted down by special interest groups. We as Christians have a duty to research who we vote for and make sure they do what they say after they are elected. We hear that church and state should not be mixed. My take is if we as Christians don’t exercise our right to vote and get others to register in our churches we shouldn’t have a right to speak out.

We should be the example for others. Apathy will take more and more rights away from Christians, and that will not just affect us but our children and country for years later.

Please take time to register and vote in our national elections, but also in our state elections. They are just as important.

Many people will take the national elections seriously and pray for our national leaders, but we also have state government that affects us just as much or more.

I challenge all of us to be a bigger voice for the rights our forefathers gave us.
