Research and the Church: Opioids, politics, and what do you call your small group?

To read a quick recap on some of the latest research related to the opioid crisis, who pastors are voting for in November, and a closer look at what’s in a small group name, see below.

1. More Americans are dying of opioid abuse, but fewer churches are serving those with opioid addictions, according to a Lifeway Research study.

2. Like other Americans, pastors are deciding who they’ll vote for in the November election. Compared to previous elections, however, they’re much more hesitant to share their preference.

3. According to a study of U.S. Protestant churches with ongoing adult Bible study groups, 56% say the label “Sunday School” describes at least part of their groups ministry. Nearly 3 in 4 (72%) say they are comfortable with others referring to their groups as adult Bible studies.
