In addition to their own Vacation Bible School (VBS), the members of Trinity Baptist Church, Roanoke, took VBS fun and games outside their church walls to both Randolph County Learning Center and Knollwood Baptist Retirement Center.
Pastor Jeff Burns said they offered VBS June 11–15 complete with snacks, songs and recreation.
Two separate groups from Trinity Baptist visited the two locations every morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Teresa Farmer, secretary for Trinity Baptist, said the church’s youth played a big part in helping with the events. “We have some great youth here at this church,” she said.
At the learning center for individuals with “intellectual disabilities,” the average VBS attendance was 24 students. Farmer said they had a great time ministering to the center’s students as they do every year.
“We got a blessing out of it and they did too,” she said.
Tyler Worthey, music minister for Trinity Baptist, attended the VBS for the retirement center and said church youth ages 10–15 provided music, story time and crafts.
“The VBS at the retirement center went very well,” he reported. “It was a really successful time.”
The church volunteered to host VBS at both locations about four years ago, and the ministry has continued to improve every year.
