Comparisons to any artist other than Hanson or The Partridge Family will be hard to come by for 13-year-old Robert Pierre, which, of course, is unfair — unfair but understandable.

Though girls his same age seem able to get away with it, there is simply something inherently off-putting in this day and age about listening to a prepubescent boy yearn longingly for everlasting love, even if it is the love of God.

It’s equally disconcerting to watch him stroll wistfully through a quasi-gothic setting as the video for his song “On Faith Alone” shows, even if we are made aware that the storm raging outside the barred castle windows simply represents a testing of his young faith.

Still his potential is obvious.

Musically the record is actually a catchy amalgam of various pop styles, highlighted by Pierre’s crystal-clear voice, with lyrics of pure Christian commitment.

Pierre’s faith, no doubt in the tradition of Samuel and Timothy before him, is unquestionably strong.

But it is likely that the potency of his musical testimony, when marketed toward an adult audience, will, like Pierre himself, take a few more years to mature.
