Many of our rural churches are finding it hard to keep their doors open because of members passing away or moving out of the community. Many town and city churches can trace their origins to rural churches.
Not too many years ago, most of our pastors, ministers of education and music came out of rural churches. Our nation’s last census indicates our nation’s population is moving away from inner cities and back to what were once rural areas.
All of us, as God’s people in all of God’s churches, need to take actions together to show our gratitude to God for the marvelous work rural churches have done for the cause of Christ in the past. We need to help them stay alive. If Christ tarries, the ministry of our rural churches will be needed more and more.
Let us boldly as any person looking for a church home to consider joining a rural church.
