David Parks (right), director of the Global Center at Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School, and J.D. Payne, associate professor for the School of the Arts and pastor of church multiplication at The Church at Brook Hills, Birmingham, held a panel discussion during the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in June. The panel, titled ‘Global Trends in Christian Missions,’ focused on the widespread use of pornography worldwide, international students, refugees and immigration. ‘You don’t have to have one particular political view about immigration to care about the issue and to see people as human beings and to see Jesus wants us to reach people and help people, not just in America but globally,’ said Parks.
