SBOM names Harris new associate in communications services

Brian Harris, communications director of Taylor Road Baptist Church in Montgomery, has been elected as an associate in Communications Services by the Executive Committee of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.

After joining the SBOM's missionary staff on February 1, Harris will manage the SBOM's websites and social media strategies as well as assist with audiovisual projects and a variety of other communications initiatives.

"We're excited about the skills and abilities Brian will bring to this position," said Doug Rogers, coordinator of Communications Services. "His experience in both website management and audiovisual production will greatly enhance our capabilities in those areas and our ability to tell the State Board of Missions story."

Harris's media experience includes past employment with Alabama broadcasting companies, including WFRZ-TV (Frazer United Methodist Church, Montgomery), Crawford Broadcasting in Birmingham, WAKA CBS 8 in Montgomery and Faith Radio in Montgomery. He has also worked in sales and customer service for State Farm Insurance and Compass Bank.

"Brian will bring to our staff a skill set that is impressive and needed for communicating in the 21st century," said Rick Lance, SBOM Executive Director. "I'm impressed with his positive, 'can-do' attitude and look forward to his service as a state missionary."

Harris is a 1995 graduate of Lee High School in Montgomery. He has attended Jefferson State Community College, Auburn Montgomery and the University of Louisiana at Monroe and is in the process of completing a degree from Leavell College, New Orleans, through distance learning.
