Daniel Wilson, an associate in the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM) office of evangelism, has accepted the call to serve as pastor of Dry Ridge Baptist Church in Kentucky.
Though born in Jonesboro, Ga., Wilson studied and served as a pastor in Kentucky for nine years, so this is something of a return home for him. He served as a pastor in Kentucky before being called to Raleigh Avenue Church, Homewood, in 2005.
In September 2009, he began serving in the SBOM office of evangelism under director Sammy Gilbreath.
Wilson’s work included such varied tasks as assisting with the Senior Adult Evangelism Conference, God’s Plan for Sharing Across Alabama, revival preparation and attractional evangelistic efforts such as car shows.
“I think Daniel is one of the finest, most wonderful communicators I have known,” Gilbreath said. Wilson will be greatly missed, he added.
While on staff with the SBOM, Wilson attended First Baptist Church, Prattville, with his wife, Erin, and son, Samuel David.
Wilson said he was happy serving with the state board but his desire to be a pastor was too strong.
“I never wrestled free from a pastor’s heart; it never got out of my bloodstream,” Wilson said.
In addition, he joked, Erin enjoys “being a pastor’s wife.”
The Wilsons moved to Dry Ridge on Nov. 30. (TAB)
