Six with state ties appointed by IMB

Six Baptists with Alabama ties were among 83 new International Mission Board representatives appointed to missions work Sept. 10. The appointment service was held at First Baptist Church, Jonesboro, Ga.

David and Melinda Rainer of Opelika were appointed for service in the Pacific Rim region, where he will serve in evangelism/church planting and she will serve in community and home outreach.

David Rainer earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a master’s of divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

Melinda Rainer earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Samford University in Birmingham.

Members of Lakeview Baptist Church, Auburn, the Rainers have one son, William Luke.

The four other Alabamians appointed as representatives will serve in a high-security region. (TAB)
