Smithtown Baptist in Eight Mile celebrates 125th anniversary and homecoming

Smithtown Baptist Church, Eight Mile, celebrated its 125th anniversary and homecoming Nov. 9. Special guests included former pastors Tom Boone; Dennis Singletary, who was the guest preacher; and Bobby Morton, who presented a certificate to the church on behalf of Mobile Baptist Network. Interim pastor Charles Brown accepted a plaque on behalf of the church from Susan Walker, a commissioner for the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission. A video presentation and highlights of the church’s history were shared, and special music was provided by Mattelyn Neighbors, a guest violinist. Also participating in the celebration were members of Holy Hill Church, Eight Mile, who share the facility, along with their pastor, Tim Steiner, and music leader, Will Edmonds.
