South Sudanese Christians ordered to leave country

NAIROBI, Kenya — A South Sudanese couple, Anthony and Cecilia Jamu, and Ismail Bashir, a pastor from South Sudan, were ordered to leave Sudan on Jan. 28 because of their Christian activities, sources in the area reported.

Accused of aiding Sudanese churches, Cecilia Jamu was arrested when she was linked with an associate from Germany, Jasmin Neuman, who was deported Jan. 7.

The Jamus and Bashir left the country on a Jan. 30 flight. The orders to leave came from Sudan’s Ministry of Interior, in conjunction with the National Intelligence and Security Services.
