Southside Baptist Church, Andalusia, celebrated its 75th anniversary Aug. 17. Larry Cummings, former director of missions for Covington Baptist Association, was the guest preacher with Ron Patterson, a former music minister, leading worship. Pastor Josh Wilson shared a video highlighting the church’s history. Two special presentations were made by state missionary Mark Wakefield, director of Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief, and Jim Lambert, a commissioner for the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, with Wilson accepting both plaques on behalf of the church. A commemorative Christmas ornament, displaying the church’s two locations, was available to all attendees, and two large display areas highlighted the history of the church from its humble beginnings at a small tent revival on Carlton Street to its current location with more than 400 members. A fellowship meal was shared after the service.
