I think it very unwise for Baptist conventions, associations, churches and most especially publications such as yours to get off into this political thicket of taxes and tax reform. This is strictly a matter for individuals to handle at the ballot box.
I expect The Alabama Baptist to keep me informed on Baptist spiritual matters regionally, nationally and worldwide, and not be an advocate of local government tax matters.
I notice the ones advocating higher taxes are usually feeding from the public trough or are parasites on the public in some form or fashion.
Your editorial tax writers in the Oct. 12 issue that have the terribly burdened conscience for not paying enough taxes can easily remedy the problem. They should call the local tax assessor and collector to increase their taxes double, triple or quadruple and send them the bill immediately.
