Her name seems picked for someone born for country music, but Tammy Trent’s style is far from the Nashville sound. Trent’s high-energy music betrays her demure Point of Grace appearance and would more likely find favor with fans of Janet Jackson and Beyoncé Knowles.
Still her funky soul-pop has a way of growing on you quicker than most, and it’s a wonder we haven’t heard more from her since her last release in 2000.
“I See Beautiful” is a pleasant 11-song surprise. Catch Trent in concert Aug. 12 at Springville First United Methodist Church.
