The Ten Commandments Amendment, if passed, would allow the voluntary display of the Ten Commandments in schools and in other public buildings across our state. It would make Alabama the first state to take such a stand. Passage of the amendment would make Alabama the leader in turning our nation back to its Christian heritage.
I’ve been questioned as to why I’m leading this effort to restore the public acknowledgement of God across our state. The answer is simple. As one studies history it is obvious that when a nation turns its back on God there are severe consequences. Often the consequences are war, famine, drought, disease, financial ruin, loss of freedoms or that nation is destroyed. I have three children and I want them to live in a state and nation that acknowledges God openly and relies on Him.
Many have stood idly by the last 40 years and have allowed a very small minority to push their agendas down our throats. Their agenda has been to remove every mention of God from our society. As a result we have seen kids killing kids at school, sexually transmitted diseases among young people skyrocket, an increase in pornography and abortion declared legal. These are some of the reasons we must start acknowledging God again in our schools and other public buildings.
