Please accept this letter as an expression of my gratitude to you and your staff for your valuable support and encouragement to me during my tenure as president of the Alabama Baptist State Convention (2006–2008). From the very outset of my tenure, The Alabama Baptist provided me a means of communication to Alabama Baptists. In each case, whether it was a personal interview or articles and letters regarding the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries or Christian higher education, missions emphasis or any other topic, The Alabama Baptist not only reported my comments accurately but you also captured the spirit and tone of my words. For this, I am very, very grateful.
My appreciation for the ministry of The Alabama Baptist deepened during my tenure as president of the ABSC. The Alabama Baptist provides a valuable service to Alabama Baptists. The paper is our communication link with one another and, in large part, to the world in which we live and serve. I would encourage all Alabama Baptists to avail themselves to our state Baptist paper and become better informed about the work of Alabama Baptists and Southern Baptists.
It is a fact that you produce an award-winning paper. It is also a fact that you have an award-winning team of workers. I know your staff. I have worked closely with many of them over the past few years. On behalf of all Alabama Baptists, I want to say a heartfelt thanks to you and to each member of your team.
The 186th annual session of the ABSC will be remembered for its spirit of unity, for its atmosphere of worship and celebration and for its single-minded focus on advancing the kingdom of God. The Alabama Baptist played a significant role in bringing about this wonderful sense of unified fellowship. Thank you.
