The Inspirations

The Inspirations

It’s in the Savior’s Hands
Crossroads Music

Ever wonder why the most confident Christians are usually the most calm in times of trial and trouble? I believe it is because they have done what Scripture instructs us to do when it says in Psalm 55:22, “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee.” Martin Cook learned a long time ago that it is better to place your hand in the Master’s hand than to spend your time wringing your own in undue worry.

Inspirations may not have the exact vocal matching of their “Inspo” predecessors; but make no mistake, they are individually and collectively some of the best singers in southern gospel music today. A big “hat’s off” goes to the studio crew.

If you have not heard The Inspirations in a while, it’s time for you to give them a listen. Let’s look at the high points for each of these gentlemen on “It’s in the Savior’s Hands.”

The timbre in Jon Epley’s voice reminds me of Mark Lanier (Perfect Heart, 1990s).

One of the best young men in Southern Gospel music today is David Ragan. I would say Ragan is very similar to a young Ivan Parker, and has what trained singers call “proper placement.”

Mike Holcomb gives the listeners another take on earlier Inspo hits, “In the Twinkle of an Eye” and “Shoutin’ Time in Heaven,” which was an Inspirations hit in the 1970s.

On “It’s in the Savior’s Hands,” Jodi Hosterman has done some of the finest singing I have ever heard him do.
