Gonna Keep Telling
Traditional/Sonlite
Here’s one of southern gospel music’s premier quartets with its newest Sonlite Records offering — and just as you might expect, it’s classic southern gospel quartet to the core. Steve French and crew know what their audiences expect of them, and with each recording or performance, they just keep feeding a craving audience.
Making the final cut for the album are 11 songs that have been provided from such master writers as Dianne Wilkinson, Rodney Griffin, Tim Lovelace, Squire Parsons and Yvonne Wingert. That’s a pretty impressive list of writers, and if you were to include a time-honored favorite that’s been around longer than most of the people in southern gospel music, you’ve got a recording that Sonlite Records is surely proud to market.
Picking a favorite selection from “Gonna Keep Telling” is nearly impossible, so here’s a few of the songs you’ll listen to after you crank up the CD player: “I’m Gonna Keep on Praising Jesus’ Name,” “More Than You’ll Ever Know,” “I’ve Been Rescued” (this one’s bound for greatness), “Come on Let’s Go to That Land” (if you’re a longtime follower of quartet singing, you’ll recognize this one), “I’m Gonna Keep Telling,” “Nobody Knows the Answer but God” and “Who Needs a Boat?” Regardless of what you ultimately decide is your favorite song, you won’t have any trouble saying that “Gonna Keep Telling” is a fine quartet album.
