In reference to the editorial “What’s Going on at the Church?” in the March 26 issue, most church planters really desire to see the power of the gospel change lives. We are seeing that. Sometimes the conflict of “Heritage” and “Antioch” can really make church-planting pastors feel alone and abandoned. I know I have felt that way more than a few times since I followed God down this road. As a pastor of an “Antioch,” instead of conflict with “Heritage,” I would very much like to learn from its pastor and elders. Most church-planting pastors understand this and long for the guidance of these battle-hardened saints.
Though our approaches are new, our doctrine is not. Although we dress informally on the outside, we are clothed with the righteousness of Christ on the inside. Even though our music sounds different, we long for the same thing — a walk with Christ that glorifies Him and seeks to make disciples.
I think you said it best when you wrote, “Celebrate common faith in Christ.” I was, and hope other church planters were, encouraged by you today.
