Thieves rob 20 churches in north Wales

LONDON — Thieves have carried out a series of robberies in north Wales against churches and chapels during July and August. Authorities in Denbighshire and Conwy say 20 churches there have been robbed of antiques and money and then vandalized in the last 60 days. Some of the sacred places have been hit more than once by burglars.

Insurance companies are asking clergy to keep their churches unlocked during the day and to invite visitors to stop by to keep the buildings under watch.
